Brief Summary: From Scholastic-“Two lonely boys who don’t know each other meet on a city street. Brought together with a simple “Yo!” answered by the other one’s “Yes?” and the bounce of a basketball, this modern classic will strike a chord with every child who’s ever longed for a friend.”
Ideas for using this book in classroom or library – While I think this book could be used as a read aloud for young children, I am not sure that it could be useful in any sort of curriculum. However, I think this book could used to broach the subject/or enter into a discussion of shyness or someone who can’t seem to make friends.
Whatever additional notes you’d like to add about this book and why you liked or didn’t like it – While there are only simple words in this book and there isn’t a lot of text, there is more being shown in the illustrations. The characters demeanors and hand gestures get more across than even the text could.
